What Is a Root Canal?

This video explains what happens when a tooth becomes infected and how a root canal can help save it. By treating the infection and protecting the tooth with a crown, we aim to preserve your natural smile and oral health.

When a nerve inside a tooth dies, it leads to infection. Once infected, patients typically experience pain and swelling. Rather than immediately extracting such teeth, we aim to restore them whenever possible. If the tooth is restorable, we perform a root canal procedure to remove the infected material inside the tooth. We then fill the space to allow the tooth to remain functional and healthy in the mouth.

To strengthen the tooth and protect it from future damage, we typically place a crown on it after the root canal procedure. This approach helps preserve the natural tooth structure and maintain oral health.
