Por qué elegir los dientes fijos en lugar de las opciones removibles [Guía en video]

Dientes fijos en Sonora, California [Guía en vídeo] Consulta gratuita sobre implantes

The word “fixed” has a few different meanings in the English language. For example, when something is broken, it may be fixed or repaired. But fixed can also mean securely attached or anchored to something, like a shelf fixed to a wall. In dentistry, however, fixed teeth refer to artificial tooth restorations that we secure to dental implants, anchoring them in place. At Sonora Dentist, we offer both fixed and removable options. But for patients who want the best strength and stability, we recommend choosing a fixed denture or bridge!

The Downside of Removability

Removable dentures are a reliable way to replace missing teeth.

Some patients prefer a removable prosthetic to a fixed one because they can remove the restoration for easier cleaning. But for others, removability is more of a drawback than an advantage.

The downsides of removable restorations include:

  • Removable dental restorations are easier to misplace than fixed teeth, as you take them out regularly. Some patients find it difficult to keep track of their dentures, frequently leaving them behind or losing them.
  • Removable teeth need regular maintenance, especially when they rely on implants for support. During routine dental visits, we’ll need to replace the special “O-rings” hidden in your denture base that allow you to “snap” the prosthetic on and off.
  • Removable restorations that rely on implants for support are strong. Unfortunately, they’re not as strong as your natural teeth. While restorations help restore your ability to chew and function, they can’t replicate your natural teeth in strength and stability if they’re removable.

At Sonora Dentist, we offer both removable restorations and non-removable restorations. But for those looking to replicate their natural teeth, we recommend fixed teeth solutions.

What Are Fixed Teeth?

Fixed teeth are dental restorations that we fix to your jawbone using implantes dentales. Unlike removable options, these dentures and puentes are anchored to your jaw and never removed by you.

At Sonora Dentist, we use miniimplantes dentales. These implants are small titanium posts that provide a less invasive and efficient way to replace missing teeth. Rather than undergoing complex oral surgery and waiting months to heal, we can place your implants in a single appointment and secure your fixed teeth soon after.

Additionally, thanks to their one-piece design and simpler placement, mini implants are the more affordable option for patients.

Our Fixed and Semi-Permanent Dentures

Sonora Dentist offers several fixed restorations that restore your entire smile. These include:

  • Puente giratorio semipermanente: A puente de la casa redonda is a full arch of teeth that resembles a series of crowns, bonded together into a horseshoe shape. This arch follows the natural curve of your jaw and anchors over your implants without the need for a bulky denture base. Semi-permanent roundhouse bridges are never removed by you, and fit snuggly over 6 to 10 mini dental implants. Then, during routine dental visits, a professional will remove your prosthetic to ensure everything is in working order.
  • Puente circular permanente: For patients who want to replicate the strength and appearance of their natural teeth, we recommend a permanent roundhouse bridge. This restoration looks like your natural smile and is fixed to your jaw by 10 to 12 mini implants. Once cemented in place, this restoration never comes out. Instead, you treat a permanent roundhouse bridge like your natural teeth, brushing, flossing, and attending routine dental visits.
